Privacy policy
Valley Yard Quotes ("we", "us") runs valleyyardquotes.ca, a service that matches homeowners in British Columbia with independent landscaping companies. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.
Information we collect
- Information you give us. When you request quotes: your name, email address, phone number, town, the type of work and any project details you choose to share. When a company applies to join: company name, contact details, website, service areas and the work it offers.
- Information collected automatically. Basic technical data such as pages visited, approximate location (city level), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. We use this to understand how the site is used and to improve it.
How we use it
- To match your request with suitable landscaping companies and pass it on to them
- To contact you about your request if we need more details
- To review and manage companies that apply to join
- To run, secure and improve the website
- To meet legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not add you to marketing lists without your permission.
Who we share it with
- Landscaping companies. When you send a request, we share your contact details and project information with up to 3 companies that cover your area, so they can contact you about your project. Each company is responsible for how it handles your information after that.
- Service providers. We use trusted providers to run the site, including Cloudflare (hosting and security), Web3Forms (form delivery) and, where enabled, analytics tools such as Cloudflare Web Analytics or Google Analytics. They process information only to provide their services to us.
- Legal reasons. If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or us.
Some of these providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.
Cookies and analytics
The site works without cookies. If analytics are enabled, they may use cookies or similar technologies to count visits and measure which pages lead to quote requests. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work.
How long we keep it
We keep quote requests and related records only as long as needed to provide the service, handle follow-up questions and meet legal or accounting requirements, then delete or anonymize them.
How we protect it
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limited access to records. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and you can withdraw consent to future sharing at any time. Email hello@valleyyardquotes.ca and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
